Neuromuscular Therapy: Myofascial Release
Myofascial release techniques are used for releasing the connective tissues (fascia) which holds our body together.
Injuries, stress, poor posture, trauma and overuse can all cause fascial restriction. By stretching this fascia and releasing the bonds between the fascia, skin and muscles, one can expect relief from nerve impingement as well as increased range of motion.
Why does fascia need releasing?
Hydrogen bonding occurs between collagen fibers and binds tissues together and can eventually contribute to debilitating conditions and degenerative diseases. Over time, these adhesions become harder and harder, and thus harder and harder to break up (i.e. scar tissue).
Pressure, friction and stretching techniques affect the connective tissue. By squeezing, stretching and pulling, a flushing of toxins and a cleansing of the tissues occurs.
